who's this photo day aimed at?
This event is designed for photographers that have a reasonable knowledge of their camera, its menu & how to change the settings. I will be on hand to offer advice & tips on apertures & shutter speeds. The day has been designed to give you the opportunity to get portraits and birds in flight images with clean and natural backgrounds. If you a particular image in mind please ask. if it's possible we will do our best to accommodate you. this will be at the discretion of the falconry team.
itinerary /time table
10;30am Meet & greet at the cafe for introductions to falconry team, safety talk.
11am we will then be led to flying field to meet our first bird. we will spend 2 hours with the falconers and a selection of birds. The number & species will be decided by the team on the day.
1pm, we will leave the flying field and stop for lunch.
1:30pm there will be either a public flying display or a talk, more photo opportunities.
You will then have the opportunity to explore the farm and it's amazing animals such as pigmy goats, miniature horses, shire horses, sheep, giant tortoises,rabits, meerkats,reptiles & alpaca.

Entry to the farm, gates open at 10am, the private photo workshop.

Travel, lunch & refreshments.
equipment
any dslr or mirrorless camera, ideal lens for birds in flight would be 100-400/500. 150-600. for the portraits a 70-200. as the birds will be flying from a perch or prop it may be advisable to use the longer lens. please make sure you have fully charged batteries and plenty of memory cards. a tripod can be used for the private shoot but not advisable for around the farm. a monopod could be good option.
The farm
Finkley Down Farm is on fairly level ground with pathways to most locations. sensible footwear & clothing should be worn. free parking
